Mum, I'm not sure I can do it . . . . Yes you can, and there's only one way you're going to achieve being able to do it . . . practice! You would never have learned to walk if you didn't practice it. We had a discussion in the car on the way to school this morning about practice making perfect. I think I'd rather look at it more in terms of practice makes you better at something. I was watching a photography video and that theme of keep practicing, have a go, play around and see what you get, but keep practicing, was ever so strong. My photography has improved over the years, because I keep practicing, and in the practicing evaluate what makes one perspective look better than another. In Christian discipleship, there's also the call to practice - to practice love as Jesus did. |
I wonder what the practice of practicing love as Jesus loved (and still loves) looks like for you?

Yes, this spot made me think of the church as we are today . . . recognising our present, letting go of the past, grabbing hold of hope in the new . . . . remaining true to what it is that sustains us, calls us, and marks as Christian people - God - as Father, Son and Spirit.
Life doesn't come with guarantees, nor is it always glowing. It's tough - bloody tough - sometimes. We don't have to do it on our own, and we don't have to do it in our own strength.
Life's learning can be adventurous - very adventurous! I am glad that there are events in life that have shaped me to be who God enjoys. |
