We sat together in the lounge room. We had finished tea. Dad, I said, what's your favourite bible story. Together we listened as my father shared with us his favourite story and why it meant something to him. My children listened. They knew that story too. They asked my Dad about what he thought Jesus was writing in the sand. They wondered about the people who were there. Then, we prayed together. Each person - child, adult, parent, grandparent, took their turn. |
My Mum and Dad can't wrap that up and put it under a Christmas tree, but it will be one of the most important, most precious, most treasured gifts they ever give our children. That moment of praying together.
