We pray, God's Kingdom come. . . . I listened to a family conversation. One person shared their opinion in an indisputable way. Yet it sat as an obvious prejudice. How can God's Kingdom come? Is this God's love? I watched as two people were ordained as they had faithfully responded to God's call. Yet the context of the church in which they find themselves is an anxious one. Survival anxiety. How can God's Kingdom come? Is this the expression of God's love? |
Do we live by the conviction of this prayer? Do we want to see God beyond the conviction of our own selves, and our own struggling faith communities? If God matters to us, then we become participants of this prayer . . .

We often talk about plants needing certain elements in order to grow, to thrive. But that isn't always available to them. It isn't always available to us, yet some will still thrive. It is the stuff that is within, the source of strength that is drawn upon, and the capacity to adapt - not conform - adapt, out of the God who is within. To live life to the full, even in the sand - it can be done.
